A strong psychic still starts with a strong sense of self.
As we wrap up a month about psychic power, let me tell you something: psychic power doesn't just mean being able to hear spirits or communicate with your gods. It doesn't really mean being able to tell the future at all, honestly, and it doesn't mean being able to move things with your mind. What it does mean, though, is an inherent connection with the unseen world—and without a sound mind, this becomes difficult to achieve.
So today, we're taking a look at a sweet treat (or a nice pairing with your morning coffee) to get ourselves right: a blueberry lavender pound cake, modified from The Runaway Spoon, to help us achieve peace, stillness, and a connection with our inner selves, as well as a shield against psychic attack while we strengthen our minds and our psychic foundations.
Our focus for this recipe is the blueberry, egg, vanilla, almond, and lavender, all of which help us achieve these things. Let's talk about how.
Magic in Blueberry Lavender Pound Cake
Now, I've talked about purple enough in our Grape and Plum Compote and Ratatouille. But you bet it shows up again where blueberries are involved, because the icing of this pound cake is the prettiest shade of purple you'll likely see in your kitchen without using some kind of artificial dye! It's gorgeous. Beyond that, though, blueberries are known to shield against psychic attack and any evil sent your way, and lavender is a classic herb for peace, sleep, and relaxation. It can also be used to induce dream divination when you put a satchel of it under your pillow. Combine that with the egg, and all its liminal glory, holding life and death between a thin shell membrane, and the almond and vanilla for their mental enhancements, and we have quite a bit of magic here.
When it comes to looking for psychic power, your go-to correspondences are, of course, the planet Mercury and the element of Air—but in this recipe, so much more than that comes into play. Mars and Pluto bring ambition and transformation while Venus brings tenderness, beauty, and balance. And water, along with a touch of Mars’ fire, bring the necessary pieces to connect to (and defend) yourself. Psychic power enhances when we master our own mind, and these planets and elements are the perfect thing to help us center ourselves while keeping safe from those who would do us harm in the unseen world, as well as from the thoughts of those who don't look on us so favorably.

1g (1/4th tsp) salt

Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Using a mortar and pestle or food processor, grind lavender into your sugar.
Cream butter and sugar together with a mixer.
Add eggs, beating until smooth.
Add 240g (2 cups) of your flour, mixing until no dry flour remains
Toss blueberries in the last 60g (1/2 cup) of flour, then fold into the batter.
Grease a bread or bundt pan, pour in the batter, and distribute evenly.
Bake for up to 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
While cake cools, heat milk with blueberries and lavender until infused, stirring constantly. Mash blueberries into milk. Let cool.
Strain milk mix into powdered sugar and pour over cake.
It's sweet, it's hearty, and each pop of blueberry is so good between all that delicious cake. The lavender comes through nicely, too, and it's a great way to center yourself for a day of activity or get you in the zone for some nice meditations. Try it out! ♥
